What is Thai Green Curry?
Gaeng Keown Wan is the traditional Thai name for fiery green curry. It was first brought up by Portuguese missionaries in the 16th century. only refer to it due to its color, which is known as sweet green. It is a dish that is based on its fragrance and spicy green chilies. Over the years, it has become one of the most popular Thai curries.
What Does Green Curry Taste Like? Is it spicy, sour, or sweet? Well, some chefs use this technique to make green curry mild with more prominent sweetness. But traditional green curry is spicy because of the green chilies. It is far hotter than other curries.
Green Curry Paste Ingredients
Take a blender. And add
- 12-15 green Thai chilies.
- 1 small, cut piece of the lemongrass stalk.
- 15 Thai basil leaves
- 2-3 small onions
- 4-5 cloves
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (roasted)
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds (roasted)
- kaffir lime skin or regular lime skin
- 1/2 galangal or ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper powder
- salt according to taste
Now grind all the ingredients to make a smooth green curry paste.
What is a green curry made of?
Here are the main ingredients in Thai green curry:
- 1 cup of water
- 4-5 kaffir lime leaves
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced bamboo shoots
- 1 cup coconut milk
- small pieces of 1 chicken breast
- Salt to taste.
- 1-2 red spur chilies
- 5-6 Thai basil leaves
Preparations
It often comes to mind: how will we use this curry paste?
Add water to a pan. Now add homemade Thai green curry paste. Bring it to a boil for a few minutes. Now add kaffir lime leaves and cook it for a minute. Add thin slices of bamboo shoot and cook it for 3–4 minutes. Add coconut milk. Mix it well and cook it for 5 minutes. Now add small pieces of chicken breast. Cook the chicken on medium heat. Add salt according to taste. Cook it for 2 minutes more. Add snow peas and thinly sliced red spur chilies over it and cook it for a minute. And finally, add Thai basil leaves over it.
